The Yak with an Attached Rack for Back Panniers
Here is the bag system I will be using when I head out on my bicycling tour next spring/summer except for the front panniers. I added the greenspan rack on the BOB yak trailer that allows the mounting of the back panniers. The Topeck trunk bag will load light which decreases the weight on the back tire.

The New Greenspan Rack for Panniers
I will also have medium size front panniers along with this bag system. I will be loading the bike down this week and taking it out for a ride to see how the Long Haul Trucker handles.
I commuted to the new location where I will be living over the winter. I rode against a nasty head wind that caused a struggle most of the 20 miles. However, my overall average speed was 10.4 mph even though my speed decreased to 7-9 mph once in awhile because the wind. There are very few hills on this commute from 13th ave NE Minneapolis to 100th ave. The time travel was one hour and forty minutes.

Commuting Style Bags
I road with loaded down front panniers and my back rack trunk bag (pictured above) on todays commute.

Ahhh another ‘creative BOB system”.
I did the similar when I first got my BOB 10 years ago. At that time there was not much of an option for bags to go over the rear wheel of the 16″ BOB wheel…..until I saw some while wandering around at REI. I ended up with Med sized Dog pack saddle bags. Attached some thick PE sheets on the inside of the bags to stiffen them up and make them a tad more ridgid so it would not get in the way of the BOB spokes. Still use them to this day.
Hey David, thanks for the comment. The Greenspan rack works great to mount panniers and also have the rack itself for a sleeping bag or tent.
hey,
i was just wondering if that would be possible…
have you rode it already? don’t the backwards weight take out some stability?
I’m thinking of doing it so I can travel with my dog…
appreciate if you give me a feedback.
thanx!
